Within Early Years we ensure the children have a safe and happy place to learn, work, and play. Children are guided on a nurturing journey enabling them to become confident, inquisitive, imaginative, and empathetic learners. The fully inclusive and personalised curriculum promotes independence and encourages children to embrace challenges and to persevere. Children will develop their metacognitive knowledge of how they learn-their knowledge of themselves as learners, of strategies, and of tasks. We believe there is no limit to what children can achieve, with determination, hard work, and a positive attitude anything is possible.

This week we have been very busy with our phonics stay and play but we still had time to enjoy our story, Jack and the beanstalk. 🌱 we made puppets to retell the story, got creative drawing and making our own beanstalks and sequenced the story in the form of a story map.

Miss Murray kindly took the caterpillars home over Easter and looked after them, they appeared out of their cocoons a few days later and enjoyed some tasty treats and got stronger before being released into her garden. 🦋 Today we shared these pictures and videos in Nursery and thought you would all enjoy sharing them at home too. 🦋

Last week we had our very special delivery of caterpillars and have enjoyed seeing them grow. We’ve learned about the life cycle of a caterpillar and used our cutting, sticking and writing skills for complete the activity in groups. We then explored other animals that lay eggs and were surprised to find a crocodile in the ‘odd egg’ in the story.
We continue our learning this week by looking at animals and how they change from eggs/babies to adult animals. We will also continue to watch the caterpillars grow and hopefully begin to make their cocoons. 🥚 🐛 🧄 🦋

Today we enjoyed a Science day for British Science week, we looked at robots from different stories we know and talked about what we know about robots. We then discussed how we can become scientist and design and build our own robot, the children talked about what they would like their robot to be able to do and it was decided that our robot (Mr NurseryBot) would be a tidying up robot. We then looked at how robots are made and then got to building as we worked together to build the robot. The children enjoyed drawing robots of their own designs. #ltpascience

What a wonderfully busy week in Nursery enjoying all things pancake day and world book day. We enjoyed making playdough pancakes and flipping them in the pans, making ingredients shopping lists and tasting some of our own decorated pancakes. Then for world book day we got to get cosy in our pjs, reading our own way - with our grown ups in the nursery garden, getting cosy with friends and sharing books throughout the day with different adults. The children (and adults) enjoyed sharing some of their favourite books, telling us what they enjoy about the story/information and discussing their favourite characters and then drawing them.
Thank you to everyone who enjoyed our world book day reading with us @limetreeprimaryacademy

This week we have shared the tale the three billy goats gruff, we have been discussing the who, what and where of the story and retelling it in many different ways. The children have loved acting it out in the story tray, using their best troll and goat voices and adding in their own sounds. Then we talked about key parts of the story ready to make our own story maps.

This week we have talked about friendship and love ❤️ the children have told us all about the people and things they love and we have talked about friendship and kindness. The children have made valentines cards and been practicing writing letters of their names and their friends names. Then we have finished the week with a trip to the school library to enjoy some lovely books and our Lime Tree loves numbers day 🩷
