Nursery

Within Early Years we ensure the children have a safe and happy place to learn, work, and play. Children are guided on a nurturing journey enabling them to become confident, inquisitive, imaginative, and empathetic learners. The fully inclusive and personalised curriculum promotes independence and encourages children to embrace challenges and to persevere. Children will develop their metacognitive knowledge of how they learn-their knowledge of themselves as learners, of strategies, and of tasks. We believe there is no limit to what children can achieve, with determination, hard work, and a positive attitude anything is possible.

This week we have explored all things Winter. We shared the story stick man to start our discussion about seasons and we shared what we know about winter. We got all wrapped up and went on our Winter walk to see what we could see, hear and feel whilst outside. The children then enjoyed talking about and drawing what they liked and didn’t like about winter. We shared the story snowy animals and whilst outside we found some animal footprints and talked about what animals we think made them. ❄️ ❄️ ⛄️ ❄️ ❄️

What a wonderful and festive week we have had in Nursery 🎄 The arrival of elf cafe prompted lots of wonderful role play, writing and the adults got to enjoy lots of imaginary hot chocolates 🥤 then the post box appeared and we got to decorate and write our own Christmas cards, we have been exploring writing our own names. At the end of the week we explored recipes following the interest in cooking in our role play cafe and we got to make some salt dough decorations and some delicious Krispie cakes 🧁 the children were great at following the instructions and using the words first, then, next.

This week we have shared the story the three little pigs. We used our knowledge of this familiar story to retell it in different ways, we made our own pig and wolf masks and talked all about the characters, the children described the characters of the pigs and the wolf (what they look like, what they are like and how they feel throughout the story) and then designed and made their own houses - telling others how they will make it strong so that the wolf cant blow it down.

We have loved exploring art this week. We started by looking at the artwork of Paul Klee and sharing our own opinions, we even had a go at replicating his art in different ways and we especially loved developing our painting and mark making skills. The children have used a range of paint brushes to make marks in the glitter, on the large cardboard and on paper. 🎨🖌️

This week we have had a great time exploring all things Nursery Rhymes for #worldnurseryrhymeweek … we loved singing together and even getting to explore musical instruments and the sounds they make in our phonics. Our learning was also very tasty when we explored 5 currant buns in our maths and got to taste some - who knew maths could be so yummy!! And of course ending the week with our EYFS performance was great!! 😊 🎵
